President Vanessa Bahena
Vanessa Bahena is a junior at CSU Channel Islands. She is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Communication. She entered as an Educational Opportunity Student and went on to become a senator for Student Government as well as a Resident Assistant in housing. This year she will be serving as Student Government President.

What does this position do?
- Represents and advocates on behalf of Student Government and the CI student body to all persons and organizations within and outside the campus community.
- Appoint students to Executive and Judicial positions within Student Government.
- Recommend students to the University President for appointment to various campus committees.
- Faithfully execute all Senate legislation and the Student Government Bylaws.
- Manage the functions of the Executive Branch.
- Issues Executive Orders in order to effectively carry out the Student Government Bylaws and/or Senate legislation.
- Recommends students to fill vacant Senator positions.
- Works at least twenty (20) hours per week while school is in session.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as Chief Executive Officer of Student Government.
- May also be referred to as the Student Body President.
- Provides the Student Government Senate a report at each Senate meeting.
- Serves as a voting member of the Associated Students of California State University Channel Islands, Incorporated Board of Directors (ASI Board).
