Student Government offers an internship program every year for freshman students who would like to get involved early. The program is designed specifically for freshmen due to the stipulation that in order to hold office within Student Government one must have a CSUCI GPA. Because freshmen do not have this prerequisite they have the opportunity to serve as an intern. Interns are assets to the Student Government team in that they help out with many day-to-day activities and gain experience within the office.
Student Government provided a readership program to the entire campus that consisted of purchasing several different newspapers: the USA Times, New York Times, CI View, and Ventura County Star. Papers were delivered to many different locations around campus on a daily basis. This program was proven very beneficial to the campus; however, due to lack of funds, the program unfortunately had to be temporarily terminated.
